Educate 65 Bright&Needy Children in Nyalenda Slums

I am pleased to share an update regarding our 10 sponsored students who are our program of educating bright and needy, they recently reported back to their various schools in Kenya fir their third semester. We are thrilled to note their enthusiasm and committment to their studies, reglecting the impact of your generous support.

Introduction:

The James Were Foundation has been instrumental in supporting education within the Nyalenda slums which is an informal settlement within Kisumu ciunty Kenya. This initiative aims to provide educational opportunities to students from disadvantaged backgrounds,fostering their academic growth and future prospects.

Impact of prolonged Rainfall and Flooding:

We experienced a lot of rainfall which I tethered with school opening. It led to severe flooding in Kisumu county, particularly affecting Nyalenda slums. The floods caused significant destruction of property,houses,schools and farm produce,disrupting the lives of many residents.

Flood relief Efforts by James were foundation

In response to the flooding the James Were Foundation took immediate action to mitigate the effects of the disaster.The Foundation provided essential relief supplies including food,medicine and mosquito nets to the affected families. These efforts were crucial in supporting the community during this challenging times.

Delay in School Opening

Due to the flooding, the re opening of schools in Kisumu and the entire country in Flood prone areas delayed by two weeks. Normalcy returned and schools resumed on May 13th 2024 allowing students to continue their education and the teachers had to put a spirited effort to recover time lost.

Educational support

the James Were Foundation has ensured that the students it sponsors could return to their studies without financial burdens. The foundation paid school fees for these needy students who are enrolled in various high schools there by alleviating their financial challenges and enabling them to focus on their education.

Conclusion 

The James Were Foundation continues to play a vital role I. Supporting education and providing relief in the Nyalenda slums. Through its scholarships ,the foundation is making a significant difference in the lives of many students and their families.
