Do we all have the luxury of belonging?

What gives us the strength to try again, even when life becomes difficult?

One of the things that gives us this strength is a sense of belonging—knowing there is a place where we are welcomed, people who know and care about us, and a space where our presence matters.

For a child, this feeling is built through small moments: someone calling them by name, asking about their day, encouraging them when they struggle, or reassuring them when they are afraid. Over time, these moments nurture a deeper sense of safety, worth, and confidence.

Losing one or both parents can disrupt much of that stability, leaving a child in need of new spaces where they feel seen and heard, and where someone genuinely cares about their progress and future.

Thanks to your support, Masarat works to create such spaces for orphaned students.

Throughout their learning journey, students find teachers who know them and follow their progress, academic guidance that helps them understand their options, student activities where they can connect with others and discover their abilities, psychosocial support that offers a safe space, and vocational training that helps them envision a future they can build through their own skills.

This experience cannot replace the family a child has lost. But it can offer something deeply meaningful: a learning community where they feel present, heard, and valued, and where their growth matters to the people around them.

When children feel that they belong, it becomes easier to trust themselves, participate, learn, plan for the future, and believe that their dreams have a place in this world.

New Memories Made Possible by Your Support

Have you ever noticed how a small childhood memory can return years later with remarkable clarity? A song sung by a mother, an encouraging word from a father, or a moment when we felt completely safe—memories like these stay with us and become part of how we see ourselves and the world.

But what about a child who lost one or both parents at an early age? What happens when part of childhood becomes associated with loss and instability rather than those comforting moments?

We cannot change what has already happened, nor can we replace the people a child has lost. But with your support, we can help them create new memories worth carrying forward.

It might be the memory of a safe space where someone truly listened, a student activity where they discovered a talent they never knew they had, a mentor who helped them see their future more clearly, or a lesson that made them realize they were capable of learning, succeeding, and moving forward.

Through education, psychosocial support, student activities, academic guidance, and vocational training, Masarat works to fill each child’s journey with experiences that strengthen confidence, develop abilities, and nurture a greater sense of safety, belonging, and hope.

When the Path Leads Back to Learning

On school mornings, there are small moments that may seem ordinary but carry so much meaning: a child preparing for a new day, words of encouragement accompanying their steps, and hopes that they will return home with new knowledge and stories to share.

For some orphaned children in Syria, however, the path to education has not been so simple.

Losing one or both parents, combined with difficult economic circumstances, can force children to carry responsibilities far beyond their years. For some, work becomes a necessity that takes priority over education, gradually pulling them away from learning and from the dreams they deserve the chance to pursue.

With your support, that path can change.

Through Masarat, we work to make education accessible to orphaned children even when their circumstances make it difficult to continue learning. Thanks to your generosity, they can find a way back to education and keep moving forward rather than allowing hardship to bring their learning journey to an early end.

And your support goes beyond lessons. Through school education, student activities, academic guidance, vocational training, and psychosocial support, we help students develop skills, discover their abilities, rebuild confidence, and prepare for a future in which they can rely on their own potential.

You cannot replace the parents a child has lost, but you can give them something deeply meaningful: the chance not to let loss alone define their future.
