Progress Report: Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention Project – Management 2026

During 2026, the development of the project focused on the prevention and mitigation of Gender-Based Violence has progressed optimally and according to the established schedule, successfully executing the following programmed phases:

1. Community Convocation and Local Articulation

With the aim of summoning the target population, a dissemination strategy was deployed between January 3 and February 26, 2026. This process was carried out through direct coordination with community leaders from the El Progreso sector, in Cazucá. The overall goal of the project is to sensitize and educate 250 women in the area on key issues of Gender-Based Violence, promoting their active participation from the community base.

2. Registration and Characterization Process

As a result of the call phase, the formal registration of thirty (30) women residents of the Cazucá sector was consolidated. This initial group constitutes the first cohort of beneficiaries that will begin the training process, allowing a close, focused and high-impact accompaniment in the territory.

3. Execution of the First Academic Session and Topics Addressed

The training cycle of the Gender-Based Violence program formally began with the development of the first face-to-face session. During this introductory meeting, the following fundamental thematic axes were conceptualized and discussed:

Conceptual definition of GBV: Delimitation of the term and differentiation from other forms of violence to understand its structural origin.
Causes and social context: Analysis of sociocultural dynamics, traditional gender roles and risk factors that perpetuate the problem in the community.
Types and modalities of violence: Detailed identification of the physical, psychological, economic, sexual and patrimonial manifestations for their timely recognition.

4. Training Achievements

Conceptual appropriation: 100% of the attendees clearly identified the difference between the types of violence.
Active participation: A safe space was created that encouraged open dialogue and the exchange of local experiences.
Strengthening of the social fabric: The first bonds of mutual trust and solidarity support among those enrolled were consolidated.
Successful territorial articulation: Community validation through the leaders of El Progreso facilitated direct access to the population.

5. Conclusions of the Conference

Visibility of needs: A high demand for clear information on legal care routes and psychological support was found.
Persistence of myths: There are traditional imaginaries rooted in the sector that normalize certain behaviors of psychological and economic violence.
Relevance of the project: The receptivity of the group confirms the urgency of maintaining the workshops to advance towards the goal of 250 women.
Process Sustainability: Full initial group attendance lays a solid foundation for retention and continuity in subsequent modules.

In the El Progreso sector, in Cazucá, thirty women have made the courageous decision to break cycles of violence, educating themselves in human rights and equity. However, our goal is to reach 250 women who need urgent tools to identify, prevent and protect themselves from Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

During the last quarter of 2025, the scheduled activities were completed, consolidating significant progress in the development of the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) project. The goal of training 250 women has been progressing steadily and with commitment, resulting in the formation of the first group of volunteers and the establishment of the team that will lead the training and community support processes.

The main achievements during 2025 are presented below:

1. Needs Assessment in the Cazucá Community, El Progreso Sector

As part of the participatory assessment, visits were made to the community on August 15 and December 14. During these visits, the following activities took place:

- Focus Groups: Six (6) focus groups were conducted with women from the community.

- Interviews with Key Stakeholders: Ten (10) individual interviews were conducted to understand the local dynamics, perceptions, and needs related to GBV.

2. Adaptation of Educational Content for Volunteers

Based on the information gathered, training content was designed and adapted for the volunteers, prioritizing a pedagogical and contextualized approach. The main topics covered were:

• Conceptualization of gender-based violence and its typologies.

• Structural and social causes of GBV.

• Consequences at the individual, family, and community levels.

• Attitudes and perceptions regarding GBV.

• Guiding principles and guidelines for action.

3. Development of the Training Process

Training was conducted for twelve (12) volunteers, with eight (8) hours of in-person instruction and twelve (12) hours of independent work, strengthening their capacity to replicate the training process and providing community support.

4. Projected content for the community

The content to be implemented during 2026 with the women's groups of the community was defined, ensuring coherence with the identified needs, and human rights and gender-based approaches.

Projection for 2026

The completion of Phase I of the project is planned for 2026, through the following actions:

• Strengthening the training team's knowledge and addressing any questions that arose during the process.

• Implementing the training in the Cazucá community with Group 1 (G1).

• Designing and strengthening pedagogical support tools for the training.

• Developing and validating a prototype tool.

Educar a 250 mujeres en la prevención de la violencia de género

En 2025, el proyecto continuó su labor. Su objetivo general es capacitar a cincuenta (50) mujeres líderes en la prevención y respuesta a la violencia de género (VBG) en las ciudades de Cartagena (25 mujeres) y Cazucá (25 mujeres). El proyecto ofrece formación teórica y práctica adaptada al estilo de aprendizaje de las personas adultas, utilizando un kit de herramientas didácticas sobre VBG diseñado por la organización, que servirá como material interactivo esencial para la segunda etapa del proyecto. En esta segunda etapa, las mujeres líderes (bajo la supervisión de la organización) se encargarán de brindar información a las mujeres y adolescentes de la comunidad mediante charlas educativas utilizando los kits didácticos.

El objetivo final es llegar a 300 mujeres y adolescentes en esta fase. Este enfoque busca no solo sensibilizar sobre las implicaciones de la violencia contra la mujer y sus diversas manifestaciones, sino también brindar opciones efectivas para su prevención, así como dar a conocer las opciones de atención y los derechos.

A agosto de 2025, se han logrado los siguientes avances en la Fase I: 1. Evaluación de necesidades en la comunidad de Cazucá, sector El Progreso. Se realizaron visitas a la comunidad el 14 de diciembre y el 15 de agosto. El trabajo realizado durante estas visitas es el siguiente: - Grupos focales: Se han realizado cuatro (6) grupos focales hasta la fecha. Entrevistas con actores clave: Se han realizado diez (10) entrevistas con mujeres de la comunidad. 2. Adaptación del contenido educativo. Se definió el contenido educativo:

La primera sesión de capacitación se llevó a cabo con la asistencia de doce (12) voluntarios que desean participar y replicarla en la comunidad. Los temas abordados se muestran en las diapositivas. 3. Desarrollo de la capacitación. La capacitación se impartirá inicialmente en dos sesiones de cuatro horas. La primera se realizó el 12 de julio y la segunda el 27 de septiembre. Después de estas fechas, quienes hayan sido designados para asistir a la capacitación brindarán una cobertura detallada del tema. ¡Gracias por su apoyo!
