Economic Empowerment for Impoverished Mothers

We are incredibly grateful to you for supporting our efforts as we continue to grow into 2026.Thanks to your generosity, we had a successful GlobalGiving July Bonus Day 2026. Your support—during this campaign and throughout the year—enables us to continue uplifting impoverished mothers and children in Tigray, Ethiopia. We are deeply proud of the progress and determination these hardworking mothers have shown.

As we sustain our existing programs, we are also opening new opportunities. Our upcoming initiative will train mothers to raise goats, creating both nutritional security and financial stability for their households. Goats are highly versatile animals that provide multiple benefits—milk, meat, and skins—that can be used at home or sold for income.

Milk for children: Goat milk is rich in essential nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, and healthy fats, and is often easier for children to digest. This improves daily nutrition and supports healthy growth.

Income from milk sales: Mothers can sell fresh milk or turn it into cheese, yogurt, or butterfatrich products, creating steady and reliable income streams.

Meat production: Goat meat is lean, high in protein, and widely consumed. Selling meat provides an additional source of revenue, especially in local markets where demand is strong.

Skins and hides: Goat skins can be sold for leather production, adding another valuable product that strengthens household finances.

Lowcost, easy management: Goats require less space and feed than larger livestock, making them ideal for mothers with limited land or resources. They thrive on shrubs and weeds, reducing feed costs and making them easy to manage.

With your continued support, we are making final preparations to open this program in Atsbi, Hawzen, and Maymekden.
