Dear friends,
As we close this year, we are honoured to share the final update from our Restore Childhood for 100 Kids project. Thanks to your incredible generosity and the EBRD’s 1:1 matching, 100 children affected by war, those who lost one or both parents or are living with the trauma of ambiguous loss, completed the full Gen.Camp rehabilitation program this summer. Your support created a safe, healing environment where children could stabilise emotionally, reconnect with peers, process grief, and rediscover moments of childhood that the war had stolen.
Across two summer sessions, children participated in trauma-focused therapy, group support, art and body-based practices, SEL learning, and a psychoeducation course for parents and guardians. According to our pre- and post-program assessments, approximately 80% of participants demonstrated measurable improvements in emotional stability, sleep, avoidance symptoms, and self-regulation. For those requiring additional help, we arranged continued psychological support and psychiatric consultations.
Importantly, your donations (and the EBRD’s matching) also enabled us to establish post-camp support programs, including Gen.Camp Check-Up and the Continuity Program. These initiatives offer ongoing psychological support to children and their parents or guardians, helping them maintain emotional stability, reinforce newly acquired skills, and ensure that healing continues long after the camp concludes. This expanded model allows us to accompany war-affected children through the longer journey of recovery, not just during the intensive rehabilitation sessions.
This summer also amplified the voices of Ukrainian children globally. International media, including The Washington Post, BBC, United24 Media, RAI, and major German outlets, shared their stories, helping the world understand both their pain and their extraordinary resilience.
None of this would have been possible without you.
Thank you for restoring childhood, trust, and hope when children needed it most!
Because we know: there is nothing more touching than the moment when a wounded child’s heart decides to trust the world again.
With deepest gratitude,
The Gen.Ukrainian Team
