31 children attended this years summer camp from the ages of 6 - 16. So many first time experiences for most of the children:
- first time outside of the mountains
- first time using a toilet that flushes
- first time to go to the museum
- first time to speak English
- first time to act in an drama/skit
- first time to check into a hotel
Some of the amazing celebrations of the children that have been part of this amazing partnership helping children in extreme poverty, specifically focussing on school - some of which had to drop out of school due to circumstances out of their control. Our partner has been part of supporting the children in this community for many years and their effort is paying off.
We celebrated Shammah, who is 16 and has just been accepted to the best high school in the county due to her grades.
We celebrated with Sogo, she is now ranked second in her county through her most recent exam.
We celebrated Ayi's birthday for the first time in her life at the summer camp, she turned 16 years old.
This is a picture of one of the families we visited in the village and shared a meal with. Johnny is committing to be there for Silhouette for her educational costs all the way through college.
The theme of the camp was encouragement through song, games, English classes, a city tour and buliding of a skit/drama as a team to be done in English on the final day of the camp, and we saw such amazing creativity and team work.
