The situation in Syria and Turkey is heartbreaking! People are trapped under rubble with temperatures plunging below freezing. Thousands of people have been severely wounded during the massive earthquake that ripped through northwestern Syria and southeastern Turkey. The number of deaths is still on the rise and many families are left homeless, hungry and cold. What's next?
A massive earthquake of magnitude 7.8 hit Syria and Turkey on Monday, February 6, 2023 at around 3am bringing down thousands of buildings, killing more than 30,000 people and leaving thousands of families homeless. To make the matters worse, the area that was hit by the earthquake was experiencing sub-zero temperatures. Those who survived are left with no shelter, food and clothes to keep them warm.
URDA is launching an emergency response plan to provide the affected families with food, clothes, wool kits, blankets and any necessary item needed by the families. Support Syria and Turkey as people are struggling to pass each day with dignity.
