This project will provide education facilities (such as table, books, playing equipment, etc.) for early childhood which are accessible to 1000 poor families in 20 villages in Southeast Sulawesi Province in eastern part of Indonesia. At the same time, the 20 villages produce village regulation in which early childhood education is included to have long-term financing from village budget.
In Southeast Sulawesi, children at the age of 4-6 years from poor families do not have the opportunity to access early childhood education as children in urban areas do. Unavailability of early education facilities which is freely accessible to poor families is the main cause. All early childhood education in rural area are privately owned with tuition fee charged. The village government does not have a policy on providing early childhood education funded from the village budget.
20 early education facilities are provided in 20 villages. 1000 parents are educated through awareness campaign to take their children to early childhood education facilities. 120 village policy makers are trained to formulate village regulation inclusive to children.
The project will educate village policy makers in formulating policy on budget allocation for early childhood education which will guarantee continuation of the project outputs.
