Fighting Malaria in Uganda: A Continuous Battle
Malaria remains a significant public health challenge in Uganda, disproportionately affecting children under five and pregnant women. Despite efforts by PLATFORM For the NEEDY (PLANE), more support is needed to combat this preventable disease. We urge donors and sponsors to partner with us to sustain our malaria prevention and control programs.
The Malaria Burden in Uganda
- According to the Ministry of Health, Uganda reports high malaria prevalence, particularly among vulnerable populations.
- Children under five and pregnant women are most affected, with high morbidity and mortality rates.
- Statistics show:
- Malaria accounts for 30-50% of outpatient visits and 15-20% of hospital admissions.
- Children under five account for approximately 70% of malaria-related deaths.
PLANE's Efforts
- During this quarter, PLANE conducted 2 radio talk shows to educate communities about malaria prevention and control.
- Unfortunately, due to limited funds, we were unable to conduct field sensitizations in communities and schools.
Call to Action
- We appeal to donors, sponsors, and partners to support our malaria projects, particularly during GlobalGiving Bonus day upcoming events on July 16-17, 2025.
- Monthly or recurring donations will enable us to maintain our programs and reach more communities.
Gratitude and Appreciation
- We thank our existing supporters and partners for their contributions.
- We look forward to continued collaboration and support to combat malaria in Uganda.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of thousands of Ugandans affected by malaria.
