Building Mangrove Museum & Learning Centre

The Mangrove Museum and Learning Centre is the only structure that stands for the south-western coastal region of the Mangrove Forest. Through the Centre, forest nature and ecosystem can be realized, and also the culture of the coastal community group. So, researchers, students, and tourists can gather in the museum and enjoy the local knowledge about fishermen, honey collectors, and nypa leaf collectors who depend on the forest resources.

Main objectives of this Centre are

1. To promote coastal environmental education through inclusive, nature-based learning for students, researchers, and communities.
2. Support research and knowledge sharing by providing facilities and digital platforms focused on science, tradition, and ethnomedicine.
3. Strengthen eco-tourism and cultural heritage through sustainable tourism and local traditions.
4. Build local capacity through training community leaders, developing mangrove graduates, and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
5. Foster partnerships and policy dialogue to ensure good governance and sustainable ecosystem management.
6. Drive restoration and sustainability through innovative, replicable programs that build climate resilience.
7. Develop an online course to provide accessible learning on the Sundarbans, covering mangrove biodiversity, conservation, and related socio-environmental insights from home.

Sundarbans which also had a local name that is commonly used among the local people BADA that means densely forest of the Sundarbans. Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) is working for the betterment of human and nature in southwestern coastal region in Bangladesh basically for the Sundarbans conservation through the livelihood improvement of the resource user group so that the dependency rate can be minimize through these activities. Mangrove Museum & Learning Centre is situated at the southern western coastal region of Bangladesh at Dacope, Khulna where as a unique live museum establish where people can be seen the mangrove forest demo, culture of mangrove coastal region and get the research source. So all of the tourist, researcher and student can acquire knowledge form this center.
