Good news: our next program, Harrison Community Village, is almost ready to open! The 38-bed pod shelter on SE 82nd Ave is set to open next month.

Harrison Community Village will also provide on-site recovery mentorship and case management, laundry and hygiene services, and a kitchen. We’ve been meeting with partner organizations, neighbors and other stakeholders to answer questions about our approach to the program, who we plan to serve and how we hope to stay flexible as the Southeast 82nd community changes. Last month, we invited dozens of folks to come see everything in person as we put on the finishing touches.

We just hosted our 5th Annual Memorial Day Ruck March!

This march honors our service members, brings awareness to metnal health issues Veterans suffer from at a higher rate than others, and make a difference for Veterans in our lives. We saw 200 participants rucking on Monday, of which 91 were Veterans!

So far, we have raised just over $31k but our fundraiser goes until June 1st where we hope to meet our goal of $40,000. All proceeds from this year's event will go towards our Veteran specific programs.A big thank you from our staff, participants, & residents at ourVeterans Village in Clackamas, Grant Per Diem shelter, Permanent Supportive Housing sites, andThayer Family Veteran Shelter.

Fundraising Update 2025 Q1 & Q2

Volunteers beautify patio for Veteran shelter

Do Good Multnomah has kept busy readying new shelters and new programs that provide the first steps into shelter & housing in FY 2025-26. The new fiscal year began in July 2025, and since then our team has adjusted to the impact of public funding cuts, and while the road was unsteady we are still committed to providing the same quality and continuity of care for the Veterans and civilian houseless neighbors connected to our programs.

In July 2025, we opened the North Portland Drop-In Center, a space singularly positioned to provide compassionate customer service to folx experiencing houselessness that need a place to rest, recalibrate, and access to hygiene and housing resources. The center connects four DGM staff trained in de-escalation and trauma-informed approaches to participants Monday through Friday. The relationships built because of this shelter

In October, we welcomed voluteers to our newest project and first-of-its-kind Veterans sober alternative shelter, the Thayer Family Foundation Veteran Shelter, to beautify the outdoor living space before participant intake occurs. A handy group from Mountainwood Homes joined us at site to power wash the patio and patio furniture, restain the patio furniture, build completely new garden boxes, and a program supply shed. This powerhouse team finished the project in one day! This gift of time and talent has extended our workspace and created an environment for relaxation and recharge.

We honored our Veteran participants, staff, board, and community members this past Veterans Day as we do each year with a dinner gathering and fundraiser for our Veteran-specific programs. We celebrated the individuals in our programs and staff that fought for their opportunity to have a homecoming. Together, we raised just over $90,000 for Veteran program services!

As we round out this last month of 2025, we're looking towards a 2026 (and Q3) with promise to continue the work with deep relationship to the neighbors and regions we inhabit. The work to extend shelter services into Clark County continues and opening the Thayer Family Foundation Veteran Shelter are on the horizon, expanding the capacity to reach more folx and provide more positive housing outcomes.
