Do Good Multnomah is transforming the reality of houselessness in Portland, Oregon through individualized support that meets our participants' diverse needs. We journeys side-by-side with Veterans and other underserved communities so that all individuals are seen, supported, and valued while navigating shelter and housing.
In Oregon, there are currently 1,460+ houseless Veterans. Rent has increased 14.6% in the greater Portland Metro area in the last year, 13,000+ people are unhoused in on any given night, and the number of Oregon families experiencing homelessness increased by 16% between 2022 and 2023. Veterans are over-represented among the unhoused making up18% of adults in homeless shelters but only being 7% of national population. Our region is desperate for solutions and needs experienced service providers.
Do Good has 22 programs to support individuals experiencing houselessness: congregate shelters, alternative shelters, behavioral health & bridge housing, three tiny home villages, and four Permanent Housing communities. Our approach disrupts traditional pathways to housing by intentionally lowering the barriers that normally block access, by providing a safe place to rest first, participants can turn their attention to strengthening behaviors and skills that enables them to retain their housing.
Do Good believes that everyone desires a safe place to call home and strives find a solution to any obstacles in the way to make that a reality for an individual. We offer human-centered support that leads to personal enrichment, attaining one's stated goals, and life transformation. Since 2015 we have placed over 750 formerly houseless individuals into permanent housing and and on any given night provide over 600 beds for those experiencing houselessness in the greater Portland Metro area.
