In July, Do Good took over operations of the Clackamas Village Shelter — an alternative pod-style shelter south of Portland. Clackamas County built the shelter from scratch and opened it for services last year with the capacity to house 24 individuals.
The program is the ideal model of what pod-style shelters can be: newly built shelter units and dedicated offices for case conferencing, ample outdoor community spaces, plenty of bathrooms, dedicated laundry, a kitchen surrounded by trees and fresh air.
We regularly receive meals delivered by Our Streets and hold routine community meetings with participants to co-design shelter expectations, find the best ways to support individual goals, and more.
Clackamas County has proven to be a fantastic partner in our work serving Veterans of Clackamas between Veterans Village Shelter (next door) and Clayton Mohr Commons Permanent Supportive Housing program in Oregon City. We’re excited for the opportunity to expand our footprint in Clackamas now serving civilians as well.
As far as shelter design is concerned, this is one of the most pleasant campuses we've experienced. We are excited to continue the great work that’s being done at Clackamas Village!
