Something is Green Here – Progress Update

Growing up, I saw how lack of health facilities and safe housing shaped lives. My cousin lost her father in the 1970s due to unavailable medical care, and she had to live in hostels while studying. These experiences taught me how fragile opportunities can be for young girls without family support.

Console Mission carries that lesson forward. Through Our Study Place, we provide safe learning spaces in rural communities. As girls graduate, She Belongs: A Daughter’s Right to Be Familyextends support into urban areas, offering hostel accommodation so they can continue their studies without exploitation or unsafe work. Boys are connected to partner NGOs for housing.

The vision is ambitious: constructing a hostel as a model for government replication. Nepal’s future depends not only on free tuition and textbooks but on treating human beings as assets — ensuring daughters have safety, belonging, and the chance to lead.

GlobalGiving has sharpened our focus. By being on this platform, Console Mission has applied for grants and submitted proposals with renewed seriousness. Without this online presence, our mission to empower girls as agents of sustainable development might not have gained such clarity.

Visual Storyline

This update is illustrated through seven moments: children drawing their dreams, teachers guiding classrooms, students managing activities, assemblies that unite schools, communities gathering with pride, committees celebrating graduates, and study spaces that symbolize sustainability. Together, these images show both the promise and the uncertainty — some children leave school with no clear path, while others continue with hope that arrangements will be made.

Looking Ahead
  • Identify organisations providing safe places for children and inform Lalitpur’s 18 rural ward chairpersons.

  • Continue exploring funding and advance planning for hostel construction.

  • Reach out to individuals and families who donate land; track organisations that have received such donations.

  • Keep donors updated with progress reports that show both challenges and achievements.
