Focus on Our Core Mission:
At 2°C, our passion lies in our mission to drive meaningful change. As an organization, we're working relentlessly to secure the funding necessary to fuel our impactful projects. We're immensely grateful for the dedication of our all-volunteer team, from co-founders, Board members, and Ambassadors, to technical partners and experts. Together, we're not only building a climate observation sensor network but also constructing the framework for securing vital grants.
This Summer we attended the See.Change Sessions in Vermont, where we forged new connections within the Outdoor Recreation sector, a pivotal partner in our mission's success.
In addition, we were invited to the 1000 Ocean Nexus event in New York City, hosted by the World Economic Forum, which as also resulted in new interest in our nonprofit and exciting collaborations.
The Volo Foundation hosted Florida Climate Week Oct 2nd though 8th, 2023, where we were able to present our solutions to their audience and meet with others working to advance a positive climate agenda.
It was encouraging to see the climate interest in Florida, with presentation topics ranging from philanthropy and coral conservation, to pathways for climate equity in the state. 2°C was grateful to be invited to participate, to share our mission, the science behind collecting these critical climate data, and the value the data bring to the Florida Blue Economy. For the full 2°C presentation, see the video link. Results of our polling during the event shows overwhelming support for our initiative to collect climate data from near-shore coral reefs.
2°C was invited to speak in Genoa, Italy at the Worl Ocean Race finale. Dr. Karsten Shein traveled to make the presenation on the imporatance of climate data being collected in remote loactions.
Exciting Milestones:
The LEAF terrestrial sensor mobile application is now under review on the Apple App Store. With the finish line in sight, we're gearing up for an official Beta-Test phase involving enthusiastic volunteer testers and groups. Our Wavelet ocean sensors are making waves! After invaluable data collection in the Florida Keys and the Cayman Islands as part of the Gen.1. Alpha-Test, we're progressing swiftly. Our Gen.2. Alpha sensors will soon be transitioning from the test bench (pictured) to underwater deployment, now featuring a Conductivity sensor for comprehensive data on Temperature, Depth, Conductivity, and Light—crucial factors in coral health.
2°C Team:
This summer we welcomed multi-year collaborator Lad Akins as a 2°C Ambassador. Lad, an ocean expert, has provided invaluable support to our team and we are proud to have him represent us at national conferences!
New partner collaborations:
We are excited to partner with Cousteau Divers on our ocean efforts and grant applications, as we seek to fill observations in the near-shore, coral reef environment.
After a successful BX3 Excelerator, we are proud to announce a new alliance with theBlue Institute Labs, to advance collaborations with BlueTech and ClimateTech startups.
