AVAG is launching a participatory education and preventive initiative to support 20,000 families in 75 settlements around Auroville, Tamil nadu, India in cooperation with Auroville units and schools, the villagers and the local authorities to contain the spread of the pandemic.
India has been recording more than 3, 25,000 coronavirus cases per day which is the highest one-day tally anywhere in the world. Deaths from Covid-19 are increasing day by day and Tamil Nadu continues to be one of the top five most affected states in India. If not controlled, the pandemic will leave a big scar on the social, economic, and health conditions of India, particularly for the most vulnerable persons.
AVAG is collaborating with the existing village and street-level task forces, established by AVAG during the first wave of Covid 19, to follow the preventive measures, raise awareness on the vaccines, and stay informed of the updates from the government, and nurture continuous linkages. We are distributing homeopathic immune boosters, recommended by the AYUSH Ministry, & educational flyers, putting up banners, using auto-rickshaw canvassing & social media messages to create better understanding.
This initiative is fostering unity and harmony within the communities, by bringing together different caste groups for the village meetings, as in almost all settlements, men, women, youth leaders, and the government representatives work together to control the pandemic. This campaign brings long-term awareness of the importance of immunity-boosting, good health, and control of viruses.
