The COVID19 has hit everyone's health and economy and those living on the street have resented it even more. We have all been sent home, but what happens when your home is the street? Today more than ever we need your help to advance the work we do with youth and families who work on the street or live in public spaces. Your donation will be used to cover the payment of the personnel that attends directly to the people and to offer our services to each family and youth.
53 families working on the streets and 25 with street life experiences participate in the two ednica programs. These people come from contexts where their right and access to health is very limited due to poor nutrition, precarious hygiene habits, frequent exposure to air pollution. These 78 families have had a more difficult history than we can imagine and the COVID19 has made their living conditions harder.
In ednica, we have a professional team that is committed to the human rights of the most vulnerable children, youth and women in our society. Those who live and work on the streets of Mexico City find in ednica a warm and humane space where they have access to emotional support, counseling, food, hygiene services, computer rooms, among others. We want to keep this work, promote the improvement in the quality of life of the children and young people who live on the streets.
We will provide accompaniment, counseling, hygiene services, food, use of laundry and pantry facilities to families who are part of our programs and referral to medical health services for street youth who present symptoms of COVID19. In a more profound way: they will develop healthy habits for the self-care of their physical and emotional well-being. We hope that they will build life projects based on their rights and not determined by life or work on the street.
