India's lockdown has closed all non-essential businesses & services, as the government ramps up preventative measures to combat Covid-19. The pandemic is disproportionally affecting the lives of those living in poverty. In response, Seva Mandir is already conducting short-term relief, & is starting efforts for long-term relief for rural families in southern Rajasthan. Your donation to this fund will provide relief & support to the families of these communities during this challenging time.
The Covid-19 lockdown has forced migrant workers to return home, cutting off any means of earning a living. They now face the reality of not being able to have enough nutrition for their families. Families of non-migrant workers are also struggling as they are no longer earning a wage. The government has begun relief efforts, & Seva Mandir is helping that. As there's a large population to reach, we are also undertaking relief efforts. Our role is crucial in reaching remote communities quickly.
Our 50+ years of working in this region gives us the ability to reach families quickly & provide them with food & hygiene packs to help them survive. Many of our staff live in rural villages, meaning we can efficiently undertake relief activities & distribute packs. We distribute food packs & hygiene packs, enough for of 5 people to last 2 weeks, following safety guidelines & social distancing. We are assessing the need of long-term livelihood support through agricultural & economic provisions.
Corona Virus will have long lasting economic consequences, especially for those in poverty. Your support will help the most vulnerable families survive the pandemic. The food packs & hygiene packs will provide essential nutrition, and the provision of soap will mean they can practice the correct hygiene practices and curb the spread of Covid-19 in their remote communities. Our long-term livelihood support will ensure families have the economic means to sustain themselves after the pandemic ends.
