Thank you friends for helping us out with this campaign over the last few years.
Transgender community is generally treated with disdain and the same was meted out to them during all the waves o Covid19 Pandemic.
Many of their community members were ignored and no relief activities were conducted for them. Sphoorti is one of the very few organizations which supported the community members.
We covered transgenders in three districts - Kadapa, Chittoor and Ananthapur. We provided groceries and medicines to more than 100 members. Through support from our friends, we were able to raise more than Rs 200,000 out of which around Rs 60,000 were given as one time contribution towards livelihood of a few members. These people set up vegetable carts and have been leading satisfactory lives.
We hope that the members of this community are accorded respect and honor on par with the rest of the society.
