The mental health of children and adolescents is one of the most urgent challenges in public schools, where signs of anxiety and depression often go unnoticed. This project was developed to address this reality through scientific grounding, technological innovation, and a strong focus on prevention.
The initiative involved 240 students from 6th grade of Elementary School to 2nd year of High School, applying internationally recognized psychometric instruments:
General Anxiety Disorder 7 (GAD-7) – anxiety screening;
Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) – assessment of depressive symptoms;
Vitality Scale – indicator of well-being and energy.
The project’s key innovation is the development and validation of a scientific digital serious game designed as an early screening tool. The gamified environment, created by designers in partnership with psychologists, promotes engagement and authentic responses while maintaining methodological rigor.
Results showed a significant correlation between anxiety and depression. Students with higher scores also demonstrated a greater incidence of negative responses and lower persistence in the game — confirming the instrument’s sensitivity to socio-emotional variables.
The project operates on two main fronts:
Structured mapping of students’ mental health;
Technical support for public schools, including guidance and protocols for risk situations.
An Artificial Intelligence–based platform is currently under development to scale implementation, automate data analysis, and expand impact.
Support from partners and donors is essential to consolidate the research, expand the technology, and bring this innovative solution to more public schools. Investing in this initiative means investing in prevention, scientific evidence, and the protection of young life trajectories.
Caring for adolescent mental health means safeguarding futures, reducing long-term risks, and strengthening entire communities. With the right support, data can be transformed into action — and action into life-changing opportunity.
