There are countless creches (kindergartens) in disadvantaged areas in Port Elizabeth that arent government funded & poverty stricken. Parents of children do not pay school fees. The classrooms are made of tin shacks, commonly overcrowded, cold in winter and hot in summer, with little ventilation nor space to move. We are dedicated to changing this. We buy/remodel shipping containers to create better learning environments. We also revamp the entire creche turning it into a fully fledged school.
None of these educational institutions are government funded, and without school fees from struggling parents, the creches battle to function. Without them the children would have no safe place during the day. They are currently housed in tin shacks which is an extremely unsavory, unhygienic environment for small children.
This project will supply these creches with classrooms that can house between 20 and 40 little children, giving them warmth, safety, comfort, space and a much better environment for them to learn in.
These container classrooms begin the journey of education in this very fundamental foundation phase of their lives and therefore impacts their future education.
