Implementation of the Grow Project

By Julia Elliott | Fundraising and Reporting Manager

The Zululand Conservation Trust (ZCT) is partnering with Grow ECD to strengthen the quality of early childhood education across four community crèches situated along the western boundary of Manyoni Private Game Reserve: Mbuzeli, Speakman, Ubhejane and Mzamoyethu.

The three-year Grow ECD Small Business Programme will provide our crèches with a structured, play-based curriculum, classroom resources, teacher mentoring, digital learner and attendance tracking, and ongoing support. Each centre will also undergo STAR Assessments to measure progress in areas such as education quality, governance, staffing, health and safety, infrastructure and centre management.

This programme will help ensure that our crèches are not only safe places for children to spend their days, but strong early-learning environments that prepare them for formal schooling. It will also give teachers and centre leaders the skills, tools and support they need to manage their centres more effectively.

Through this partnership, ZCT aims to build stronger, more sustainable community crèches and improve early-learning opportunities for more than 160 young children in rural communities surrounding Manyoni.
