School Uniform Project

By Julia Elliott | Fundraising and Reporting Manager

Education remains one of the most important areas of community support, particularly for children living in the communities surrounding the reserve. For many families, the cost of school uniforms and basic stationery places significant pressure on already limited household resources. Ensuring that children have the correct school clothing and essential learning materials helps improve school readiness, confidence, attendance, and dignity in the classroom.

Through this project, and in partnership with the Blue Sky Society, primary school children from the surrounding communities were provided with new school uniforms and stationery supplies. The donation included essential uniform items such as school T-shirts, trousers, tunics, ties and school shoes, ensuring that the children were properly kitted out for the school year. Basic stationery supplies were also provided to support their daily learning needs.

The uniform handover was a meaningful contribution to the children and their families, helping to reduce the financial burden associated with schooling while supporting access to education. For the children, receiving new uniforms and school shoes provided both practical support and a renewed sense of pride in attending school.

This initiative also reflects the importance of partnerships in delivering meaningful community support. The collaboration with the Blue Sky Society made it possible to reach more children and provide assistance where it was most needed. By supporting learners in the surrounding communities, the project continues to strengthen the relationship between conservation and community development, recognising that long-term conservation success is closely linked to the wellbeing and upliftment of the people living alongside protected areas.
