Help our partner schools in Uganda achieve new standards for computer literacy education! Joy of Community Foundation has been able to provide 10 computers so far to our partner schools and healthcare facilities. These computers are essential to opening up educational and professional opportunities for Ugandan students and managing the healthcare of community members visiting the Health Vision Agency Uganda (HEVIA).
In 2020, the Ugandan Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES) announced a new competency-based curriculum for Ugandan youth. These computer literacy and technical schools are necessary for Ugandan youth to compete in the changing local professional landscape. While the teachers and students are eager to meet this goal, they lack the technology necessary. Further, Ugandan healthcare facilities are lacking in computers and technology to provide essential services and accurate health reporting.
Joy of Community Foundation (JOCF) has so far been able to provide 10 desktop computers to our partner schools and healthcare facility through our generous sponsorship network: Solomon Memorial Primary School, Sya Bright Future Primary School, Pearl High School, and the Health Vision Agency of Uganda (HEVIA). However, in order to meet our total goal of 42 desktops, we need additional support from new contributors to the JOCF community.
Access to technology is essential for Ugandan youth to be competitive in the global professional landscape. Each desktop donated allows more students to begin computer literacy courses and vocational training programs that could change their economic futures. Additionally, donated desktops will help our HEVI Uganda partners continue to improve their healthcare facilities. These computers allow for more accurate healthcare reporting, along with improved healthcare delivery and record keeping.
