Comprehensive Sexuality Education to Young People

The Comprehensive Sexuality Education for Young People project has allowed APLAFA to sustain the Youth with Options program in two provinces of the country, Panama and Veraguas. In the year 2023 alone, this program has successfully impacted the lives of 57 young people, who, in turn, have reached 3163 adolescents between the ages of 12 and 19 from official schools.

Here are some of the experiences shared:

"APLAFA, Youth with Options, has truly been a group that has opened my mind, made me consider other people, their feelings, their opinions. It's a community of young people, a safe space where we can ask questions, be comfortable, and discuss topics related to sexuality and other subjects that adults usually avoid talking about with us. I can discuss these topics with professionals. APLAFA has been one of the greatest opportunities for me to learn and grow as a person." - Divannys, 16 years old.

"Being part of the Youth with Options group has allowed me to grow. Throughout this process, I have developed needs that I won't be able to let go of – the need to learn and the need to help others. During my experience, I have built connections within this group to continue growing, not just on my own but within a community of young people who are truly in tune with me and inspire me to make a change." - Sebastián, 17 years old.

"My experience within APLAFA has been gratifying because I didn't expect it to have such an impact. I have grown personally because gradually, the habit of helping others becomes a part of you. We learn about sexuality and leadership, which are important for life, and it would be great if everyone could have access to this information." - Hillary, 17 years old.
