Inspire Intergenerational Climate Action!

IAA'S initiative aims to close the emissions gap: A Climate Action Roadmap for Limiting Warming to 1.5 Degrees C. It is unacceptable for people to continue suffering the impacts of climate change around the world. Governments, public and private sectors continuous to hold climate talks and this are not enough. We need to act now through concrete climate actions without giving any excuses.

Young people are the most affected community by the impacts of the climate crisis. Because of this, it is important to empower them through, awareness, policy, advocacy and conservation to lead on this issue. Being the most suitable to be consulted and lead on this issue, does governments and politicians promote democracy that stands on the truth, justice and love for nature? Electoral fraud, repression, restriction of speech and movement, and injustice can only contribute to; political uprising, distabilization, population displacement, environmental degradation and hunger.

How does IAA engage communities on intersectional climate issues? From ecosystem restoration, to land restoration, biodiversity conservation,to "Youth Climate and Environmental Press"

"The IAA Youth Climate Environmental Press", is a newly designed radio taltk show program led by youth activist, on environmental politics, democracy, civic right and intersectional climate issues. It provide education to the general public and empower youth with skills, tools and resources to lead climate action in their communities. Over 10M people have been reached through radio program and in-person workshops across Cameroon, and planted over 150,000 trees with children, community adults and youths.

Our goal is $100,000 and we have $99,952 to go. Your donation today through GlobalGiving will enable us restore degraded lands/ecosystems and deliver more radio programs on climate and environmental issues while empowering young environmental stewards. Why Plant a Tree Today and on Our Catchment Areas!

Trees provide numerous benefits, including cleaning air and water, supporting wildlife habitats, combating climate change, and improving human health and well-being.They also enhance local communities and the environment.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of the benefits of trees and why IAA is involved in community tree planting:

Environmental Benefits:

Air Purification:

Trees absorb carbon dioxide, a major greenhouse gas, and release oxygen, vital for our atmosphere.

Water Filtration and Conservation:

Trees filter and retain water in the soil, preventing stormwater and flooding issues and improving water quality.
Soil Erosion Prevention:

Tree roots bind the soil, preventing erosion and stabilizing the landscape.
Climate Change Mitigation:

Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store carbon, helping to combat climate change.
Wildlife Habitat:

Forests and trees provide homes and resources for a vast array of wildlife, supporting biodiversity.

Human Benefits:

Mental Health:

Spending time in nature, including forests and parks, can reduce stress and improve mental well-being.

Physical Health:

Studies show that trees and green spaces can improve air quality, reducing respiratory illnesses and promoting exercise.

Trees can reduce heat islands, provide shade, and enhance the aesthetics of urban areas, making them more livable.
Economic Benefits:

Trees and green spaces can increase property values and attract people to live, work, and invest in areas with abundant greenery.

Integrated Agricultural Association (IAA) in collaboration with community members and children, planted 5000 trees on a community garden and apiary to provide home for wildlife, livestock and honey bees in Kumbo. This is one of the many community tree planting initiatives carried out in 2023/2024 and has created a tree nursery with 1.5M tree capacity to foster community engagement in afforestation in Cameroon.

Community Apiary and 700 Bee loving Trees Planted!

Integrated Agricultural Association IAA provides equal opportunities for women and men to contribute significantly in nature conservation and the preservation and protection of biodiversity while creating awareness about climate change and how insects contribute to food security, poverty reduction and environmental health.

1.) Integrated Agricultural Association is promoting bee farming as a strong financial incentive for rural communities and women to alleviate poverty. With little or no capital a poor rural woman and young person without access to land titles would use forest areas, mountains and valleys to generate income through bee farming, while contributing to the increased food security through the pollination services by honey bees and other insects. Enhancing biodiversity and environmental health, as the bee farmers continue to protect their hives against bushfires.

2.) Creation of Community Apiary: IAA has secured a land with a capacity of 5 hectares in Kumbo to install an Apiary which will not only serve as a honey production farm, but a community biodiversity resource farm, for research, education, capacity building of stakeholders in honey and vegetables value chains, conservation and adaptation.

3.) Planting of Bee loving trees: In the land secured and with the participation of the community members, IAA planted 700 trees, including Prunus africana on the 5 hectares plot and mounted five locally made hives with bamboos and aims to inspire the local community on the goodness of honey bees and empowering youths and women on sustainable agriculture and bee keeping while building resilient livelihoods through sustainable climate adaptation measures and advocacy.

With donations made through GlobalGiving and support received from other sources, we are significantly improving lives and the physical environment in our community. We aim to plant 50,000 trees and train 5000 peseants and smallholder farmers on alternative livelihoods including bee farming.
