We are getting closer, but just not there yet. It would seem that with the demand for U.S. Veterans services being as profound as it is, we would be getting more help from political leaders who have made a committment to the IMCRA program, especially in our home state. However this has been a long hard push. Meetings go very well, multiple assurances are received, and then nothing happens unless the issue is relentlessly pursued.
So this past summer has been less a time for expanding services and more a time for trying to actually secure promised funding sources for our programs. Enthusiastic committments from congressional and senatorial supporters have unfortunately tended to dissipate when the discussion is brought around to taking definitive action on grants or funding. Currently, we are working with the Connecticut Center for Innovation and have launched several awareness campaigns in line with their recommendations.
Of greatest concern, our specialist faculty in combat-related PTSD and TBI has tirelessly and unselfishly given of their time and we want to acknowledge their efforts with appropriate honoraria. Any help in this area, while we continue to work with our senatorial and congressional friends, will be greatly and wholeheartedly appreciated.
