SECOND REPORT: FROM 1ST JULY TO 30TH SEPTEMBER 2011
INTRODUCTION
The ONG AGIDE has received a grant from Globalgiving for the project untilled Combating Child malnutrition with mushroom in Togo. This project has won a place with Globalgiving during the Global challenge of April 2011. Here is the second report
ACTIVITES
After the second round of explaining session of the project, the piloting team started the identification and hilling the malnourished children. The team elaborated an identification stub which is the following below. The community health agent has identified children during his meeting in villages and during his travels. Sometime, it is women leaders of groupings whom we talked about in the first report who brought some of the malnourished children. The community health agent explains to the parents the content of the project and the commitment they should take. If the parents agree, they sign the identification stub and the commitment that allows the project to take in charge the child for six months. If his state of health requires medical analysis, the laboratory specialist will be in charge of it. If the analysis result reveals any necessary medical treatment (worms hilling and others), the doctor will do it. The project therefore gives Champimix product to the child. Thereafter the community health agent pays a visit to the family once by month to check the child's state of health. Until the end of September 2011, the project identified and took in charge 53 children suffering of acute or moderate malnutrition in the Prefecture du Zio. A striking example was of case twins (a boy and a girl) identified in Tsevie. Till 14 months old these twins could not yet walk. In duration of one month after being took in charge by this project, the boy started walking (see his photo). As far as the girl is concerned, the most affected one; she started walking after three months. This result surprised a lot of person and makes their mother very glad who talks of it everywhere she goes. She tells to everyone about the nutritional property of mushrooms in general and about CHAMPIMIX porridge specially.
CONCLUSION
Each child took in charge should spend 06 months in the project. The definitive conclusion on the nutritional health of the children took, in charge will be known by the end of December2011 i.e. at the end of the year.Once again, our sincere thanksgiving to Globalgiving and all generous donors.
