A SPECIAL CHILDREN'S RESIDENTIAL HOME!

By Ilaria Ventura | Project Leader

Our local contact Simona sent us some news from Casa Italia in Ghana and from our children who are all doing well and growing fast.

Simona tells us that in October the Coffee Beans center acquired the title of SPECIAL CHILDREN'S RESIDENTIAL HOME and obtained permits from the Government to operate in Ghana. This process required a lot of work and now the project has moved from NGO to Residential Home.

It is a very important result for the future of children and we are proud and grateful to Simona for this milestone which is a great honor but also a giant burden that entails continuous updates and checks to be always adequate and compliant with the rules imposed by Unicef that are now requests in Ghana.

We must bear in mind that in the last few months 20 "orphanages" have closed only in Ghana and the Coffee Beans project was the only one in the area to receive the certification which was welcomed with great relief by all of us.

A lot of work has also been done in recent months to improve the center. First of all, the new physiotherapy has been almost finished, which is now even better equipped for periodic exercises that children, especially those with some disabilities, have to perform regularly.

Even the children's rooms have been refurbished with new beds and wardrobes and also with new flooring that has helped a lot in the rainy season.

In addition to these jobs, it was also necessary to buy a new Nissan 4 × 4 car important for the center's supplies but above all to monitor the children who left the center and were reintroduced into new families who now take care of it.

This activity which is carried out regularly ensures that the children for whom new family solutions have been found and who have therefore left the center continue to feel good. Often the roads are not in the best conditions and an adequate means of transport is very important to carry out this activity.

So many good news that are possible only thanks to the valuable contribution of those who support us in this important project.
