CoderDojo - Inspiring Young People To Achieve

By Rachel Schoene | Administrator

2017 was a phenomenal year for CoderDojo between merging with Raspberry Pi and engaging more and more young people in coding. A significant milestone was reached with thanks to our growing community of volunteers and supporters, the CoderDojo community has grown from approx 200 Dojo’s, just over 4 years ago to now over 1,700 Dojo’s across 85+ countries around the world! What an amazing achievement

In 2017, we also launched the Girls Initiative aimed to inspire and engage girls and female mentors into the CoderDojo community. Within this we solidified our plan to reach gender parity in CoderDojo, researched the area both in the CoderDojo community and externally and released our best practice guides.

We also ran our annual survey.  Our annual survey has proven to be a most valuable tool for us, in ensuring that we continue to provide the global CoderDojo Community with content and resources that they want and need.

In addition to new content releases, we hosted our annual flagship events #DojoCon and #EUDojo in October, each event was a roaring successes and once again, highlighted how truly global the CoderDojo movement is!

CoderDojo Coolest Projects 2018

2018 will see the CoderDojo Coolest Projects taking place on the 26th of May. Coolest Projects is a global showcase that inspires the next generation of digital creators, innovators, changemakers and entrepreneurs. This year, for the first time, Coolest Projects will be run as an initiative of the CoderDojo Foundation, with support from a dedicated team of volunteers! The CoderDojo Coolest Projects Showcase offers young people from the international CoderDojo Community the opportunity to present the projects they have created at their local CoderDojo. It is both a competition and exhibition to showcase, inspire and enable innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship and technology skills in youth innovators aged 7 – 17.
