This project restores continuous water access for 5,508 people (1,060 families) across 11 villages in Sabin Valley, Taiz. Despite receiving solar power in 2022, the only water source suffers frequent shutdowns due to a severely corroded pipe network and an old, undersized tank. We will construct a new 100-cubic-meter concrete tank and replace the damaged transmission lines. This ensures a sustainable, daily clean water supply for the community.
Established in 1994, the Sabin project is the sole water source for 5,508 people in 11 villages. Today, severely corroded pipes cause constant shutdowns. The aging, undersized tank cannot meet current needs despite a new solar system. Consequently, families endure severe water shortages. Women and children bear the exhausting burden of walking long, rugged distances daily to fetch water, directly risking their health, safety, and access to education.
We will construct a new 100-cubic-meter reinforced concrete ground tank. We will also rehabilitate the transmission lines by replacing the severely damaged sections with durable galvanized iron pipes. These vital upgrades will fully utilize the existing solar system, creating a reliable network. This permanent solution will eliminate the daily struggle for water, ensuring 5,508 people in Sabin Valley have safe, uninterrupted access right in their villages.
At just $32 per capita, this project secures lasting clean water for 5,508 people across 11 villages. Reliable access will drastically reduce diseases and improve public health. By removing the daily burden of water collection, women gain time for productive activities, and children can safely return to their education. The robust concrete and iron infrastructure ensures long-term resilience, empowering the Sabin community to sustainably thrive for generations to come.
