On the morning of August 26th, a catastrophic flash flood struck northern Nepal – barreling over homes, schools, businesses, and hospitals.
More than 900 people have died, including children, and over 4,000 are still missing a week later.
Save the Children Nepal launched an immediate response delivering life-saving aid, in coordination with Nepal’s local Disaster Management Committees and other partners. So far, we have distributed emergency relief kits to over 2,500 families, including over 1,000 children. The kits include supplies for shelter, cooking, hygiene, babies, warmth, and more. Children have been separated from their families. Overcrowded and chaotic holding centers have led to even more separations. Save the Children is urgently working to reunite children with their families, help centers keep families together, and protect children who are still on their own.
