Please can I come and see what you are doing? I can't believe the reports I am getting, I can't understand why you are so succesful, I need to see where I am going wrong.
This was a social affairs worker who had tried to help several street children in his area, tried to work with their parents and had no succes. But he met some of "his"children who had been rehabilitated by Abrham's Oasis and just was so encouraged by the change in them. This man drove 2 hours to come and see us and the 4 children from his area who are currently in the program. We showed him around, he talked with the children and he finally realized that working with street children is not just a quick advice here and there and telling the parents to look after them. The problems of streetchildren are complex and their relation with their family has often been damaged. This needs time and patience as well as being separated from their area of bad influence.
But this man has an imoirtant role to play in the life of these children, he can motivate them to come to us for help, he can motivate the parents to encourage their children to go to our center, he can follow them and be a mentor once they come back.
It takes a village, we are working together to make things better for these children. It takes awareness raising, interventions and follow-up. Many people can play their role in this.
You have an important role as well as we couldn't do it without your financial assistance and we are thankful that you are stepping in and providing us with the financial means to make it work. We need more people like you and we would like you to do your part and share the work of Abraham's Oasis with others so we can assist more of the many children in crisis!
