Phone is receiving continuous treatment and remains hopeful in his fight against chronic diabetes.
Phone, 8 years old, is a little boy who has lived his life with patience since he was 5 years old. He faces type 1 diabetes, a condition caused by the immune system attacking the pancreatic cells that produce insulin, so he results in insulin deficiency, Phone needs to inject insulin twice a day, morning and evening. His small arms are covered in needle marks, while his fingertips are rough from daily blood draws to check his blood sugar levels.
Caring for a chronically ill child like Phone requires continuity and close attention, but the family's income is uncertain. Taking time off from daily wage work to take children to the doctor places a heavy burden on medical and living expenses. Even with universal health coverage, some costs are not covered, such as the cost of blood glucose monitoring equipment (needle and test strips), transportation, and food during the day of treatment.
CCF helped Phone through Child Rescue Fund Program. This includes supporting travel expenses, daily meals, essential medical equipment for ongoing care and providing funding for agricultural activities such as equipment to make bio-fertilizer and bio-fertilizer sprayers to supplement family income that boosted Phone’s morale in fighting the disease and improve the family's financial stability.
"I'm so happy that everyone has been so kind and helpful. Now my mother and I have money for transportation to the doctor. I promise that I'll take good care of myself. My teacher says I look brighter. If I feel tired and out of breath while playing with my friends, I'll stop playing and rest until I'm no longer tired." "I will study hard and be a good boy for my grandparents" Phone said with a smile and strong willpower.
CCF would like to express our gratitude to all generous donors who have contributed donations to help alleviate the ongoing medical expenses and for all children under the care of Child Rescue Fund Program.
