Luuka County Luuka District in Uganda in one area where child abuse, violation of child rights, sexual harassment, mental and physical violence are very high. This fund will therefore help in promoting child rights and reducing all forms of child abuse and violation and protecting children from abuse. 1,500 in and out of school children will benefit from this project in year one. 4,000 both community members, primary school teachers and Head teachers will also be made aware of child rights.
High child abuse & violation of child rights, child labour, neglect, physical violence against children, sexual harassment, psychosocial distress & ignorance about child rights, are among the problems affecting children both orphans, vulnerable children as well as this in and out of school in Luuka County. We are working with international volunteers from the Netherlands and other states here in Luuka. All Donors to this project will receive reports and emails on how funds will be spent.
Through this project, In and out of school children, community members, teachers council authorities / leaders will be sensitized, mobilized about children's rights, prevention of child abuse and child neglect, reduction of physical violence on children, stop sexual harassment as well child responsibilities. Children's Act, laws, leaflets and brochures will be circulated to both school teachers, local authorities and the children themselves.
Prevention of violation of children rights & child protection requires all kinds of international support to publicize and promote awareness, observance and adherence to all child rights and protection from abuse. 80 child protection committees, 70 primary school teachers and 50 child rights advocates and peer educators trained, 60 child rights clubs formed will remain to carry on the project interventions since this project will have empowered them.
