At El Shaddai this month, we participated in the national Joy of Giving Week (also known as Daan Utsav), which has become an annual "festival of giving" across India.
As part of the initiative, our day care unit and night shelter Asha Deep, along with the community centre Sahara, partnered with The Rosary High School in Miramar, Goa. The drive resulted in a collection of day-to-day essentials like soap, toothpaste, water bottles, toys and old clothes which were distributed to slum dwellers in Old Goa, Odescel and Tonka, Goa - India.
Little Acorns, which is another one of our day care unit and night shelter, planted trees in hotels Taj Vivanta, Whispering Palm and Sun City in Goa to raise funds for Daan Utsav.
Our child rescue centre Stepping Stones also took part and raised an amazing Rs. 25,000. Tremara, one of our community centres in Chimbel Panaji Goa, which looks after the welfare of over 80 street children, celebrated the Joy of Giving Week with students of Kendriya Vidhyalaya School.
This intitiatives has helped El Shaddai project to educate, feed and give residential facilities to thousands of street children in Goa, India.
All this has been made possible because of your continuous support and generous donations which keeps nurturing our projects, staff, volunteers and the street children and unempowered women.
