Cascade AIDS Walk is already planning AIDS Walk Portland 2011!
The next AIDS Walk Portland will take place in October 2011. As it did for AIDS Walk 2010, this year's route will take walkers 2.5-miles through downtown Portland, Old Town, and the Pearl District, and will begin and end in Pioneer Square.
So far we're recruiting sponsors--Genentech, Fred Meyer Stores, and Nike are on board, among others--and planning entertainment, kick-off events, and a marketing campaign that will not only alert the public to AIDS Walk Portland 2011, but will raise awareness about HIV and AIDS in general. Many people are still not aware that more Oregonians live with HIV and AIDS now than ever before, and that one in five of them are not aware they are HIV positive. HIV testing and prevention education, as well as taking care of and empowering those living with HIV/AIDS, continues to be vitally important.
It's not too soon to start thinking about your team for the next AIDS Walk. Let's make this year's walk the best yet!
