Summary

This project aims to increase quality of education for children attending underserved-childcare centres in rural communities & bordering province of Nong Khai, Northeast Thailand. We will provide teacher training for early childhood educators, many of whom have never had formal training. This project will affect 4000 children, 206 educators and their communities. Through training, study trips and community education we hope to reduce the gap in education quality between urban and rural centres.

Challenge

There is large gap in the quality of Early Childhood Education delivered to children in remote areas of North eastern Thailand compared to urban areas. This is largely due to problems with resource allocation, funding and management constraints and a lack of qualified early childhood educators. There are 4000 children and 206 teachers in our target areas whose quality of life will be greatly improved through teacher training and a higher quality of education.

Solution

This project aims to reduce the gap in educational quality through teacher training for all educators in the target areas. We will also work with parents to teach the importance of early education and good parenting practice and with local authorities to ensure better resource allocation for early education in future years.

Long-Term Impact

It is hoped that at the completion of the project 206 early childhood educators will understand how to implement successful early learning and meet national standards of early childhood education. 4000 children will benefit from better early learning. Teachers and parents will become a knowledge hub for their community, able to pass on information about education and child development. Local authorities will understand the importance of early childhood education and increase resource allocation
