Thank you for your support of children in foster care. At Camp Horizon, like you, we beleive all children deserve to be loved and wanted. Kids in foster care suffer trauma and loss at a young age. Camp Horizon helps children in foster care to heal with positive encouragement, confidence building activities, adult mentoring and affirming self-esteem excercises. Our cost free, year-round programs restore dignity and foster hope in children, teens and young adults. We empower children to make positive decisions and to lead healthy productive lives. Since 1982, Camp Horizon inspires children to be positive and discover new possibilities.
We welcome your support. Plans are well underway to welcome campers to our 2018 summer program, please make your gift today.
Happy Summer,
The Camp Horizon Team

Upcoming Events
Camp Horizon provides year-round, no-cost programs for Atlanta's youth in foster care. We work to restore dignity and hope to children, teens and young adults who have been abused and neglected -- empowering them to make good decisions and lead healthy, productive lives.
CAMP HORIZON HAPPENINGS
Last weekend (November 3-5), we held our annual Ledership Development Program (LDP) Weekend Retreat; our LDP program is an important time for our teen campers as they approach the period in their life where they will have to “age out” of foster care and become fully independent at age 18.
Please mark your calendar for these upcoming Camp Horizon events:
December 2 (11am to 3pm) - Camp Horizon's LDP Gift Wrapping Party! Get in the holiday spirit by wrapping presents (for our younger campers) with our teens, playing games, and enjoying a delicious lunch! Please let our program director Amy Orr (Amy.Orr@camphorizon.net) know if you can help with set-up, clean-up, or transportation from one of the local DFCS offices.
December 8 (7pm-10pm) – Join us for an evening of music at the Camp Horizon Winter Concert held at the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. Music provided by Camp Horizon’s own band, The Hug Rounds, and some very talented guests featuring Grammy nominated pianist John Burke and Dane Hildreth. There will be music, camp stories, and a lot of fun. The concert is free, but there is limited seating, so tickets are required and can be reserved by using the link below. We will be accepting donations at the event, all of which will be used to provide more programs for Camp Horizon campers. https://www.eventbrite.com/o/camp-horizon-15672438458
February 17 - Please SAVE THE DATE for Camp Horizon's 2nd Annual Foster the Funk fundraising event benefiting Atlanta's youth in foster care. Last year, this event sold out in just a couple of weeks, so be sure to check back with us in EARLY JANUARY when tickets go on sale!
Thank you for your continued support,

In a couple days, we will kick off Summer Camp 2017! This will be our 35th summer serving Atlanta’s youth in foster care, and we couldn’t have made it this far without friends and supporters like YOU. For camp updates throughout next week, be sure to check out our Facebook page.
Next week, children ages 8-11 who are in foster care, due to having been abused and neglected, will get to take a break from their often chaotic lives, to just be 'regular kids.' In addition to the intentional programming, they will have the quintessential camp experience with traditional activities like horseback riding, canoeing, fishing, archery, biking, kayaking, tennis, swimming and more! For many of our campers, these activities are "firsts" for them. Each camper will be matched with their own camp counselor for the week, to give them undivided attention. Our Summer Camp volunteers donate their time for a full overnight week of camp 24 hours/7 days.
In April, we held our annual “Family Reunion” where our volunteers got to have fun with our campers while having delicious food, telling great stories, looking at previous years’ camp photos and simply reconnecting! Also in April, Camp Horizon was part of the “Smoke and Glory” fundraiser, an exciting head-to-head chef showdown and craft brewery showcase, held at Steinbeck's Ale House in Decatur.
In May, CBS-46 News featured Camp Horizon as their “Charity of the Month.” In June, CBS-46 interviewed us on their half-hour TV program “Atlanta Plugged In.”
From our humble beginnings of only eight campers sleeping in tents in a community parking lot, to our current week-long, year-round round programs at a state-of-the-art camping facility, Camp Horizon has helped hundreds of emotionally wounded children grow into healthier adults. Each child we touch through Camp Horizon gives clearer vision to our course. That new day, that better day, lies before us.
Thank YOU for your support and for making our mission possible!

Camp Horizon's 2017 Family Reunion will be one to remember! Let's all come together (yes, even you that did camp in 2009!) to eat delicious food, tell great stories, have tons of fun with the campers, look at previous years camp photos, and reconnect!
We will be providing lunch, dessert, fun activities, and some special surprises! We would love for you to come and see your Camp Family again!![]()
- HELP WITH TRANSPORTATION! The most important job is to get our campers to the event, you can help do that!
