Project Summary

The Street Business School (SBS) training for women and youths in Nigeria is a mobile business training designed to serve the unique needs of individuals at the base of the economic pyramid by igniting their entrepreneurial mindset, making them be agents of change, and supporting them to start a sustainable business such that they will have a reliable income stream long into their future.

The business training has been implemented in 10 communities in Nigeria.

The business training Impact.

Findings from the street business school post evaluation visits revealed there was over 99% financial increase in the income of the project beneficiaries compared to the financial report captured during the project baseline, mid-evaluation and exit visit.

11 months after the project implementation, follow-up visit to project beneficiaries revealed that 149 of 150 Participants (99%) are still in business and 43 of 150 participants (29%) have additional businesses and sources of income.

Update

Due to delays and ongoing insecurity in Apo-Duste in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), SI4DEV has relocated the project to Minna, Niger State. In March 2024, SI4DEV trained three assistant coaches to facilitate the SBS training in Minna. By April 2024, 20 women from the Soje community were enrolled in the SBS program. An orientation session was held on April 27, 2024, and classes began on May 11, 2024, focusing on Module 1 of the SBS Curriculum, "Coming Out of Your Comfort Zone."
