Hello Donors,
As you know, SI4DEV has been committed to this project to provide business training to under-employed women and youth including recent school dropouts, to enhance their employability and provide a skilled foundation to build them a business, therefore reducing levels of unemployment and in the process teaching work ethics and values through role model engagement and coaching.
This Project is seeking to address the poverty level of women and youth living in urban-poor communities by increasing their income by equipping them with the knowledge they need to build sustainable businesses. This project will empower them to believe in themselves and seize every opportunity.
We are happy to report that the community stakeholders and participants are just as invested and supportive of this project.
A recent visit to Mr James the shoe cobbler, shows that though the 3 months apprenticeship has expired,he gave the boys the opportunity to learn more. The two young apprentices are very dedicated and consistent and have continued to work with Mr. James.
In Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, we provided vocational training (hair dressing, baking, fashion, shoe making and sewing) to 42 unemployed youths and women, including recent school dropouts, to enhance employ ability, therefore reducing levels of unemployment. So far, 5 of them have started or expanded their business!
Check out this 45-second video clip from one of them saying thank you.
Your donations make it possible for us to keep supporting these participants and scale up to reach even more people. Please check out our website for more news, videos and blogs from the field.
Thank you once again.
