Thank you for your ongoing support of healthcare professionals' mental wellbeing. Over 1,000 participants have benefited from training in effective stress management to protect them from burnout. We would like to share Sandra’s experience with you. Sandra is a medical professional who works in the public health system for workers in Mexico City, and had this to say after completing the program:
Taking the course has been an opportunity for me to improve multiple social relationships that have benefited myself and my family, friends, colleagues and patients. It has made me feel hopeful, and know that I can generate a positive change. It gave me the opportunity to learn from others, to feel less alone in this long work filled with conflicting emotions and enormous responsibilities, all directed towards doing what is best for others. Feeling exhausted, frustrated, sad and overwhelmed, all of it is part of being a medical professional. It is what lets you know you are alive, but at the same time not having control of these emotions makes the important function of decision making very difficult. Now I put the tools acquired from the course into practice, and I appreciate feeling as though I am being taken by the hand and not left behind, helping me be more aware of my physical and emotional reactions, which I will continue managing so that I can perform at my best. The course motivated me to continue life with passion, dedication and love for my work as a doctor.
We are so grateful for you, our generous donors, for making this program possible. Helping participants like Sandra has made a big difference in their lives, and in the lives of the thousands of people they care for. On behalf of all the medical staff who have benefited from our program and our amazing team, thank you.
I greatly appreciate the opportunity to participate in this program. I was able to take away a lot of things to practice and a lot of knowledge to share, but above all I took away a lot of personal growth. It is an excellent course, with an excellent team, and has helped me to sleep better, be more relaxed, enjoy my work more, relate better with people and not live in overdrive so much. ~ Dr. Gloria Elena Cisneros Avalos, Consulta Externa IMSS in Monterrey, Mexico
Thank you to all our donors! Your efforts and contributions are essential for reaching as many healthcare providers as possible and are greatly appreciated!
Now, March 2022 after 23 months after the pandemic struck Mexico, as in the rest of the world, in Mexico, the pandemic has had serious consequences. An estimated 5,5876,047 cases with Covid-19 have been reported to date, of which 12% required hospitalization and 6% died. (Data obtained from: https://datos.covid-19.conacyt.mx )
Health professionals have been under a great deal of pressure to deal with this crisis. Our Stress Toolbox Program has played a role for many hospitals to retain and support their frontline staff through these challenges. Nearly 2,500 health professionals from public hospitals in Jalisco (25%), Michoacán (18%), Nuevo León (14%), Coahuila (13%), San Luis Potosí (10%) have been provided with internal tools and strategies to take a proactive approach to safeguarding their wellbeing, which has empowered them to demonstrate tremendous resilience and provide consistent service despite the adversity they continue to face.
At AtentaMente, we believe that evaluating our efforts is a fundamental part of ensuring our service delivery hits the mark. We are excited to share these results with you below!
Once again, we have you, our valued donor, to thank for these results. Without your help, these amazing results just would not be possible. We greatly appreciate the ongoing support for this project, and the deep-rooted care you have for those who care for us every day!
"If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else." – Booker T. Washington
"It comforts me to know that I am not the only person experiencing these difficulties, and that with these tools we have learned to face those fears ... the exercises will help us to deal with each day." - Maria del Carmen, COVID Nurse and program participant
We are so very grateful for the kind and generous contributions from our dedicated donors, and the opportunity to serve those who devote their lives to the medical care of others. Since our first report just 1 year ago, we have served over 1,000 healthcare professionals across Mexico thanks to your support. For them, being tasked with the impossible assignment of keeping everyone safe from an invisible, deadly threat had taken a tremendous toll on their mental wellness. Our work continues to provide them with tools and strategies that protect their mental wellbeing and give them the fortitude to carry on with their work. You can hear more from some of our participants in this video.
There are many more healthcare providers we want to reach out to, providers who have not yet been able to participate in our programs and arm themselves with effective mechanisms to help cope with the pressure they continue to find themselves under. We remain committed to providing our services to them free of charge, which is why we are participating in the #GivingTuesday campaign on Tuesday, November 30. We would greatly appreciate your consideration of healthcare professionals in Mexico this holiday giving season.
From the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU for your unwavering support of our work.
“This course has really helped me both personally and professionally. My stress was so high that I was always suffering from muscle pain, migraines and bad moods. Now, with the exercises that they have taught me, I feel better, I have no pain, the migraine disappeared, and the best thing is that I can better communicate with my colleagues to improve problems that arise within the service. I am really very grateful to this course.” - Alma Lizbeth, COVID Nurse and program participant
Our Stress Toolbox Workshops for Healthcare providers continues to bring burnout relief while the pandemic endures in Mexico. Thanks to your ongoing support, 300 more doctors, nurses, and medical staff across 3 Mexican states have benefitted from the program since our last report. To be sure our efforts are getting the results our participants need, we rigorously evaluate the outcomes of the course, and are pleased to share them with you. The course results show not only a significant drop in levels of anxiety and stress, but they also show a substantial decrease in participants’ level of depression and symptoms of burnout. Here are a few key highlights for you:
These results give us confidence that we are on the right track, and testimonials from our participants speak to the relief they feel now that they have the inner tools to face the enormous adversity in front of them. One participant said,
“I learned to manage my stress and anxiety, to live calmly amongst the chaos. I don’t reject stress; thanks to you I now know how to face it with the tools I have learned.”
On behalf of all healthcare providers who have been armed with the inner tools to be at their best to keep everyone safe, we would like to thank our donors for their support and trust. We would also like to extend a special thank you to our recurring donors for being behind us every step of the way. Your ongoing support is a steady reminder that we are all in this together, and an inspirational force that nurtures weary workers through a deadly pandemic.
“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller
Our healthcare professionals treat and care for a seemingly endless line of sick, scared and contagious people who have been infected with COVID19. They cannot control the raging pandemic, yet are responsible for minimizing the impact. This scenario of feeling pressure to keep everyone (including themselves and their families) safe while having no control over how many people are affected creates a highly stressful working environment. The Stress Toolbox workshop delivers practical tools and strategies to protect the mental wellbeing of healthcare workers. This is fundamental in reducing workplace burnout and empowering the people we need the most to be at their best.
Over 600 more healthcare providers have participated in our workshop since our last report, and we are excited to share the results with you! Click on the images below to get the numbers and the feedback from participants. The participants of our workshops express their profound gratitude to all who support this initiative. Without our valued donors, we would not be able to reach out to so many skilled, essential professionals who are battling internally while they face a deadly virus head-on. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for joining our efforts to protect the mental wellbeing of our brave healthcare workers!
