We appreciate your continued support towards the work that Girl Concern Org is doing in impacting the lives of women and girls in Northern Kenya. We are excited to share with you the milestone we have reached through your continued support. 

2024, started well for us as we embarked the year patnering with different donors. We have partnered with SDI Kenya a grass root funder that supports climate change as well as an individual donor here in Kenya to work on a project that aims to fund girls and young women organization. Through this partnership we have been able to expand our reach and enhance the sustainability of the organization.

During this reporting period issues that we have identified that has impacted the lives of girls and women includes: climate change, gender based violence and women and girls not being economically stable. Through our center we have been able to respond to all three factors by conducting trainings on the the relationship between climate change and gender based violence, we have also continued to support young women to acquire skills that they can use to start their own business.

We have also started cash transfer program for rape survivors where we give them monthly stipend to help them with their living. We are also currrently working to secure a lawyer who will be working as a probono to help in assisting survivors during their court proceedings.

The amount also assisted the organization in managing its operation costs like paying of staff.

It is with immense pleasure to be reporting on our progress. If it was not for your donations we would not be able to have assisted our community the way we have. Thank you, we are indeed grateful for your donation. There are thousands of causes around the globe that you could have donated but you choose to support ours. Thank you.

During this quarter we began teaching young women and adolescent girls skills that they can use to begin a business and improve their overall income. These skills include henna design and makeup classes. Both of the classes are being taught within our center. We have reached fifteen girls, they have been studying for four months now. We did hire a henna and makeup instructor to take the girls through their learning sessions.

Among the students, we also have divorcees who have come to learn. We do not discriminate on the marital status of our students and we welcome anyone who wants to learn. Students through their learning have been supported with learning materials and any other support to enhance their learning.

We have started building another room to start tailoring classes. This was after many requests from the women of our community, we decided to include in our activities. Due to the high cost of starting a soap-making activity, we have decided not to endeavor with it in this quarter. We however have it within our plans as it will increase employment and income of women and girls at large.

We are happy to share that Girl Concern Org will be partnering with SDI-Kenya to conduct a climate response activity. We will be conducting cash transfers to survivors and sensitization on the linkage between gender-based violence and climate change.
