Girl Concern Org is a non-profit organization that supports women and girls through building their leadership capacity. Girl Concern Org leadership program has a massive impact on enhancing human rights and promoting equality when young women and adolescent girls are fully empowered.
Why let Women and Girls suffer? Estimated 4 out of 10 women are financially free in Garissa County. Women and girls are at risk of experiencing gender based violence due to lack of regular income for their daily needs. Some of the violence include physical beating by a partner and young girls being lured into prostitution This project will affect the lives of more than 50,000 women and girls gain skills and knowledge in starting up a business and building on a positive mindset.
The leadership center provides educational sessions for marginalized adolescent girls and young women on how to start their own businesses. The beneficiaries are also trained on technical skills in soap making and cloth designing. The center will house a soap making factory where the trained young women will be employed hence improving on the their income. Session on human rights and advocacy will also be included, to ensure our beneficiaries are aware of their rights.
The project will educate 200 young women and adolescent girls monthly allowing them to improve on their mindset and financial status. The families of the beneficiaries will also benefit as one of their members is contributing to the financial needs of the family hence reducing the level of poverty within the community.
