When we launched "Del Lápiz al Píxel," we welcomed 30 young students into a space most of them had never experienced before — a room with computers, a 360° booth, and virtual reality headsets, all theirs to explore.
For many, it was the first time they had a computer to themselves. At school, they shared one device among four or five kids. Some had never used a mouse. Others had never opened a browser on their own. But from the very first session, curiosity took over.
Over the course of the program, students learned to navigate the internet safely, use a keyboard with confidence, and work with tools like Canva and CapCut to express their creativity. They were introduced to artificial intelligence — what it is, how to ask it the right questions, and how to think critically about its answers. They built practical office skills that will serve them in school and beyond. And alongside the technology, our psychosocial tutors worked with them on communication, teamwork, and self-expression.
The students are still showing up. Still eager. Still growing. But right now, without funding, our tutors have not been able to return — and we cannot take the next step without support. Your donation helps us bring back the teachers, keep the computers running, and give these 30 young people, and many more, the future they deserve.
