Progress Report of “Ishinomaki Multi Purpose Recovery Base”

Nowadays, around the area hit by tsunami 3.11.2011, including in Ishinomaki-city, many buildings are under construction, which influences the work to build Ishinomaki Multi Purpose Recovery Base. We are managing to prepare for the construction to start; adjustment of schedule with neighbors, check of the building code, procedure, and planning.

This building is located in front of Mr. Nagai’s house (a partner for this project). We contact each other every day to share the latest state about construction.

At the beginning of December 2012, we started the foundation work. After digging and crushing stones, we disposed leveling concretes. Presently we are shuttering. After the foundation work is completed, we are planning to start to construct the exterior. In March, we start the interior finishing. This building is supposed to be completed in May.

Design to withstand fires, earthquakes and tsunamis

We use steel frame and make structure strong. Also, we design high-rise building foundation to avoid being damaged by tsunami. In order to keep building’s durability, we will perform maintenance regularly. We want this place to be a multi purpose building required by all generationsof local residents in Ishinomaki.

To donors and supporters

Thanks to you donors and supporters, we could start the construction. We sincerely appreciate you. This multi purpose building is expected to play a key part as a place for international exchange. So it is really meaningful to receive donation from other countries. To succeed in revival of Ishinomaki-city, we kindly appeal to you to contribute to this project.
