MaSe Foundation Uganda works in rural communities, where young girls face a difficult reality where early pregnancy often brings an abrupt end to their education. Once a girl becomes a mother, she is frequently forced to drop out of school due to stigma, limited support, and financial hardship. Without education or employable skills, these young mothers struggle to survive, depending on small-scale farming, casual labor, or at times, unsafe and exploitative means of earning a living.
At MaSe Foundation Uganda, our work has allowed us to see firsthand the challenges teenage mothers face — from social isolation and poverty to emotional trauma and lack of opportunity. Many of them long for a second chance to rebuild their lives, provide for their children, and regain their dignity. Yet, without access to skill development or psychosocial support, this remains out of reach. The community also bears the impact, as cycles of poverty, dependency, and vulnerability continue across generations. Establishing a Vocational Training Centre for Teenage Mothers within the village will therefore be a transformative step — providing a safe space where young women can learn, heal, and acquire practical skills that open pathways to self-reliance and renewed hope for their families and the wider community.
Many teenage mothers are unemployed and lack access to affordable training opportunities. Existing vocational centres are located far from rural areas, making them inaccessible to young mothers who cannot afford transport or leave their children unattended. There is, therefore, an urgent need to establish a community-based training centre that is close, affordable, and designed specifically to meet the needs of teenage mothers.
The centre will offer courses in tailoring, hairdressing, catering, crafts, and sustainable agriculture, along with business and financial management to support entrepreneurship. It will also include a small childcare space where the young mothers’ children can be safely looked after while their mothers attend training.
MaSe Foundation Uganda is still seeking for support we warmly invite well-wishers to join us in making this vision a reality.
Together, we can give teenage mothers in rural villages of Kyotera district in Uganda the opportunity to learn, earn, and live with dignity. Your support — whether through funding, materials, or technical expertise — will directly transform lives and strengthen the entire community.
