Our report shares our experiences supporting more than 250 vulnerable girls who are at risk of FGM.
During this period we supported more than 250 girls at risk of FGM.Girls in Kuria are subjected to Female Genital Mutilation/Cut between the ages of 9-15 years .FGM undermines the health of girls and women and it has no health benefits for girls and women.
FGM is recognized internationally as a violation of the human rights of girls and women. It reflects dee-rooted inequality between the sexes ans constitutes an extreme form of discrimination against girls and women.
Girls being forced to under go FGM is one of the saddest seasons for girls in Kuria.During the FGM period girls ran away from their homes with fear of being forced to undergo the cut/mutilation, we had overwhelming referral requests from survivors across the community, we received visits to our office daily, we worked closely with government officials to rescue girls from FGM/Cut, and supported them with menstrual health essentials(soap, panties, pads, tissue),providing food essentials, offered counselling sessions to the girls who were affected during this sad period.
With your support girls were successfully reintegrated back in the community safe and sound;enabling them to go back to school.
We want to thank you for your generous support.Together we are creating safe and healthy communities for girls and women. We look forward to connecting with all of you.
