The contract for construction of a middle school in Burkina Faso has been signed and the builder has met with the community several times to explain the details of the project and gain agreement on how the community can help. Community members have contributed to other projects by unloading cement delivered to Konkourona, finding sand and pebbles to make bricks, transporting the bricks once made, and carrying water to the construction site. The builder has also made himself available to answer any questions the community has.
Construction is planned to begin on Monday, March 27, 2023 and is expected to last for approximately 6 months. Our hope is that the middle school will be opened before the next school year starts in October 2023. Village leaders are working with the regional government to request that teachers be assigned to the new school for the coming year.
