A high school is needed in Konkourona, Burkina Faso to provide higher education for students who are excelling in middle school.
There are approximately 160 students from Konkourona attending middle school grades 7-10, with approximately 30-50 more expected to attend each year. This is an increase from approximately 6 students attending middle school six years ago, before we began working to improve access to education. It is expected that there will be a significant demand for high school education over the next few years, but there is no high school.
We will work with the Mami Siara Na community association and the District Education Office to build a high school and hire teachers in Konkourona to support continued education for students who excel in middle school.
Our goal is to improve peace and social cohesion in Burkina Faso while providing many more employment opportunities beyond subsistence farming. This will lead to stronger families and communities as each person's well-being is improved.
